Trip Overview

The landing I went to is actually near Bordelonville (see directions). After you put in at the concrete boat landing, paddle across to the bayou that heads west. After about a half mile, you will come to some large cypress trees. There are many smaller ones along the way. Bring your fishing gear. Lots of bass. Birds and deer also. Beautiful LA swamp scenery.

Accommodations:

Primitive camping at the landing. Motels in Marksville.

Directions:

From Baton Rouge airline hwy to LA. 1 turnoff to new roads. Thru new roads toward Marksville. Past Simmesport, at Moreauville, take a right at the light and go toward Bordelonville. About 5+/- miles, cross bayou des glaises on your left and take a right on the unimproved road. You may want to ask directions at this point. The locals are friendly and will help you. Ask for old river lane, which is going to be on the left and will take you across the levee down a dirt/gravel road about 1 mile to the landing. The road is easy except very slippery and muddy when wet!
